Andy Devlin is the founder of Germanenstolz Rottweilers as well as the founding member/Training Director and President of HVRSK.

I was born in Brooklyn and grew up on Long Island in a town called Brentwood. I have 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Having a large family and growing up where I did was something I will always remember.

When I graduated from high school I went in the Marine Corp. and starting out as a GRUNT in the 3rd MAR. DIV. I was picked for Super Squad and trained with the 3rd MAR. DIV. RECON BN which was one experience I will never forget. After spending a few years with the Infantry, I reenlisted, changed my MOS to Military Police. This is where I got my start and found my love for working dogs as a police K-9 handler. After spending 6 years as a Marine, I decided to follow in the footsteps of my father and become a NYC Fireman. I was appointed in 1980 to a busy Ladder company on the West side of Harlem. Being a NYC Fireman truly was the greatest experience of my life. I am extremely proud and honored to have served as one of the BRAVEST and I will always remember the supreme sacrifice that 343 brother fire fighters gave on 9/11/01.

In the early 80's, I saw my first Rottweiler doing police work and my interest was then only for the Rottweiler. Previously, I owned Boxers and the Rottweiler sold me on it's type and it's structure. I also had an interest for schutzhund and started my quest to find a club in my area or a trainer. The person I found and got my start with was not a good representative for the sport, but I was lucky enough to have found others who taught me the sport of schutzhund, in a 'correct' and 'clear' manner.

Over the years, I have met people who have showed me the sport of the future, (SCHUTZHUND). To name a few: T. Floyd, Gottfried Dildei, Rich Pastucka, Debbie Zappia, Gene England, Roland Seibel, Dean Calderon, Andreas Mueller, Chuck Wilson, Willie Melendez, Jim Hill, & Al Milner. I would like to take the time to thank each of you for your knowledge, and for teaching me the sport of Schutzhund.

Darlene Devlin has been involved with training/owning/showing Rottweilers for over 20 years. My first breeds as a child included a Cocker Spaniel, Doberman and a Great Dane. I acquired my first Rottweiler as a teenager. He was one of the most loyal, impressive, protective and yet gentle dogs I have ever encountered. Our bond locked my fate in owning this magnificant breed for the remainder of my life. I competed in AKC obedience and showed in AKC conformation as a junior handler.

Speaking of 'competing', I was also the #1 ranked judo competitor in the NorthEast for over 12 years, as well as being a National and International judoka, taveling as far as Israel, to represent my country. I started judo when I was only 8 years old, achieving a black belt by the time I was 16 years old. My competitive nature was put on hold, when I retired from judo after 21 years of competing...

At that point, I had purchased my second Rottweiler, this time, from Andy - and named him Proximo Germanenstolz. When I purchased Prox, I was told about a 'schutzhund' klub that Andy was involved in and thought it would be interesting to come up and check out. When I met the members of HVRSK and saw the sport of Schutzhund, INSTANTLY, I knew that this was the sport I wanted to be involved in. I dedicated all of my time and efforts into 'Prox' and we became the first 'team' from HVRSK to go from O-SchH III, under the direction of Andy. I am currently training Proximos daughter now, X-treme. So far, we have gone from O-SchH II and will be completing her SchH III this coming Spring. That will be my second dog that I have taken from 7 weeks old and then trialed to a SchH III - of course, under the direction of my best 'human' friend and training partner, Andy. I'm even more proud of the fact that both Andy and I bred X-treme, making it that much more of an accomplishment (handler/owner/trainer/breeder). What more could you ask for?

Prior to moving to Pine Bush, I was born and raised in the Bronx, then lived in Manhattan and Queens for a good portion of my 20's. Professionally, I was a Graphic Designer, creating logos, web sites, sports magazines, overseeing photos shoots and running the corporate division for a major sports marketing company for 10+ years. I still freelance for personal clients, and now own a training/boarding and grooming facility. For more info: www.K-9DaySpa.com

About 'us' ... Darlene and Andy not only became training partners, but become best friends as well as partners in life, marrying in July of 2006. We are proud to announce that we have extended the Devlin family by three.... our triplets, Sway Rose, Blaze Ronald and Zoe Patricia, who were born on July 20th, 2007. Our teamwork and partnership has made us the foundation of our kennel, Germanenstolz Rottweilers as well as our club, Hudson Valley Rottweiler & Schutzhund Klub (HVRSK).

Andy & Darlene Devlin are full members of the ADRK, USRC, USA and the AWDF. We are code-of-ethics breeders and only breed to produce the best German bloodlines possible. We strive to bring to you the very best combination bloodlines with our bitches and stud dogs, such as Nero, Balou, Akino, Dingo ... just to name a few. If you are looking for an import, puppy, family companion, sport dog, working dog or top conformation dog, we are here to help you with our knowledge and guide you in the right direction.

Since the late 1980’s Germanenstolz Rottweilers has produced many Best in Show pups, Youth Sieger and Siegerins, numerous Multi-V youth and adults, as well as such coveted titles as adult Sieger and Siegerin. We have produced dogs from many litters who went on to receive their AKC Championship and Schutzhund titles. We take personal pride in every dog we sell, breed and train. Our breeding program, unlike many others, is to incorporate both the conformation aspect, based on the FCI breed standard and the true working ability as measured by strict adherence to ADRK Schutzhund rules. We know you will find these attributes very desirable when owning a Germanenstolz Rottweiler.

Our females are selected for sound temperament as well as harmonious physical structure. We believe a kennels’ foundation bitch is the cornerstone and strength of any successful breeding program. No kennel is stronger than its bitches. Without breed standard knowledge, one cannot make intelligent choices as to what qualities or attributes he deems essential for his foundation bitch to possess; nor can he identify which bloodlines within the breed to incorporate in his program to reach long-term goals. It can be said that what a breeder seeks to produce-the ideal in type he formulates-is self-expression. The males we select for breeding must also meet strict requirements in temperament and conformation, as well as working ability.

The mental and physical soundness of our puppies is a result of thorough research and experience in the selection of the proper sire and dam combination for every breeding. We urge you to make as many inquiries to other breeders. We know our puppies/dogs are of a caliber you will not see frequently. All our puppies raised IN OUR HOME and are handled continuously from birth, and are exposed to handling by young children at an early stage in development, when long-term impressions are made.

If at all possible, depending on your location, we welcome you to stop by our kennel, at any time. We love for all potential puppy buyers to meet each one of our dogs that are on our website. We are proud of our dogs - they are part of our family. Our dogs temperaments are outstanding and they are always looking to meet new friends. You are also welcome to come to one of our training sessions, to see each one of our dogs 'work'. We know that we have the perfect combination of work, structure and temperament. All that's left is for you to come by and see it for yourself!

Please look around and enjoy our website. If you have any questions please feel free to e-mail or telephone us. We look forward to assisting you in the selection of one our quality rottweilers. Thank you.

Sincerely,
Germanenstolz Rottweilers
